Agastya

Agastya was during the spring 2021. As is the name remarkable, so was his appearance and character from the very beginning. OR maybe we were bound to see those things we attached there with the name. However, it was always a delight to see the little calf go in between fighting cows or guide a smaller calf to safety from the rush of others when fresh grass was served during the drought. He sort of expressed characteristics not seen in others of the herd. It was many a night, when we found out that little Agastya had come out with Shyama and squeezed through barbed wire to "eat out" after the others had slept. You witness these gimmicks and sooner or later you have to melt a corner of your heart to the play and the player. Even today, (autumn 2022), if we leave the gate open, the little bell on his neck will gently let us know around 10pm that it is Agastya's and Shyama's snack time.

If you want to help us take good care of Agastya, his monthly rations cost around Rs. 2,500/-. You can help him and us at:

Sakthi

Our Sakthi came to us from one native cow breeds breeder, Mr. Selva, who in lack of space donated her to us. Sakthi is a pure, Tamil Nadu native breed called Umblachery, mostly known in Tiruvaroor and Nagapatinam districts. The breed is small, and when Sakthi came, her size was that of the calves in the herd. She has always been very self-relient, and found her grazing where ever the disturbance would be smallest. Yet, when we made friends with her, she would not miss a morning to come to us to have her share of sweet talk and rubbing.

When it came her time to deliver Sakthi, she did what she would always do. We had the grace to notice how she started wandering away from the herd and towards the quietest corner of the land. There she lied down and silently gave birth to Agastya. After that we took them both to our cow-shed for shelter and food. She is always an epitome of calmness amongst the taller and quite often very expressive companions in the herd.

Her monthly rations and supplements cost around Rs. 3,000/-. You can help her and us at:
